Who are our Stakeholders
Only rarely do we test software solely for the joy of finding a bug. We test software because someone wants us to provide them with quality-related information about that software so that they make a better decision, fix important bugs, and/or assess regulatory compliance. That someone is a stakeholder. Most of the time, a stakeholder is a member of one of four groups; end-users, regulatory agencies, managers & executives, or development teams.
End-Users
Many testers don an “end-user persona” on occasion. Do you? When you do, do you do it well? Are end-users the best stakeholders to serve on this project?
Regulatory Agencies
When are regulatory agencies actually our primary stakeholders as opposed to just another source of requirements? How can we satisfy them when they are?
Managers & Executives
We frequently think of managers and executives as our stakeholders, but how often do we give them the kind of business information they really need?
Development Teams
Do your developers thank you for finding bugs, or complain? Do you treat them as your primary stakeholder? Do you think it would be useful if you did?
How to serve them better
Would you like to find out how to better serve these stakeholders? Are you a stakeholder of software testing efforts who would like to find out how to help testers get you the information you need? CAST 2009 is being designed to address these goals. At CAST 2009, you’ll have opportunities to learn from thought-leaders, trainers, authors, peers and one another via:
